Breast augmentation, also called augmentation mammoplasty, is a safe and effective surgical procedure that enhances the size, shape, and symmetry of your breasts. It can give you a fuller, more proportionate silhouette, restore volume lost after pregnancy or weight loss, or correct natural asymmetry.
At Rao Aesthetics, Jamnagar, Dr. Meenakshi Rao combines surgical precision with an artistic eye to deliver natural-looking, customized results—always keeping your comfort and safety as the highest priority.
You may consider breast augmentation if you:
• Want to increase breast size for a more balanced figure
• Have asymmetrical breasts and want improved symmetry
• Have lost breast volume after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight changes
• Desire fuller, shapelier breasts to boost self-confidence
During breast augmentation, the goal is to place an implant in the most natural-looking and safe position for your body.
1. Anaesthesia
You’ll be asleep under general anaesthesia, so you won’t feel any pain during the procedure.
2. Incision
A small cut is made in a hidden area — usually under the breast fold, around the areola (the darker skin around the nipple), or in the armpit. This allows the surgeon to insert the implant without visible scars.
3. Implant Placement
There are a few ways to position the implant:
• Over the muscle (subglandular): Placed just behind the breast tissue.
• Under the muscle (submuscular): Placed completely beneath the chest muscle.
• Dual-plane technique: This is a combination of the two.
• The upper part of the implant sits under the chest muscle, which gives a smooth, natural slope at the top.
• The lower part sits under the breast tissue, which helps the implant fill out the lower breast for a more natural shape.
The dual-plane method is often chosen when there’s mild sagging or when we want a balance between natural movement and good upper breast contour.
4. Closing the Incisions
The cuts are closed with dissolvable stitches, and dressings are applied.
5. Support Garment
You’ll wear a special surgical bra for several weeks to support your healing and keep the implants in the right position.
The procedure usually takes 1–2 hours.
• Hospital Stay: Most patients return home the same day; an overnight stay may be advised in some cases.
• Swelling & Bruising: Common in the first 1–2 weeks and gradually improves.
• Support Garment: You’ll wear a surgical bra for 4–6 weeks to ensure proper healing.
• Activities: Gentle activities after 1 week; avoid strenuous exercise for 4–6 weeks.
• Scarring: Scars will fade with time but may not vanish completely.
