A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgery that lifts and tightens the skin and underlying tissues of the face and neck to restore a youthful appearance. It reduces sagging, deep folds, and jowls, creating a firmer, smoother, and refreshed look.
At Rao Aesthetics, our focus is on natural, age-appropriate results—restoring youthfulness without an “overdone” appearance.
Facelift surgery tightens sagging skin and underlying muscles to restore youthful contours, reduce deep wrinkles, and lift jowls.
• Mini Facelift: For mild sagging around cheeks/jawline.
• Traditional Facelift: Addresses moderate to severe ageing.
• SMAS Facelift: Tightens deeper muscle layers for longer-lasting results.
• Mid-Facelift: Focuses on cheeks and under-eye rejuvenation.
Under general anaesthesia, incisions are made along the hairline, around the ears, and sometimes under the chin. Skin is lifted, the deeper SMAS layer tightened, and excess skin removed. The skin is then redraped smoothly and sutured with scars hidden in natural creases.
• Sagging skin on the face or neck
• Deep folds between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds)
• Jowls or loss of jawline definition
• Loose skin or “turkey neck”
• An aged, tired look despite good health
• Anesthesia: Performed under general anesthesia.
• Incisions: Typically hidden around the ears, hairline, and sometimes under the chin.
• Lifting & Tightening: Underlying muscles and tissues are tightened, and excess skin is removed.
• Closure: Sutures are placed discreetly for minimal visible scarring.
Duration: 3–5 hours, depending on the extent of correction.
• Hospital Stay: Usually overnight observation.
• Swelling & Bruising: Common for 2–3 weeks.
• Support Dressing: Bandages or compression garments may be applied.
• Work & Activities: Resume light work in 2 weeks; full recovery in 4–6 weeks.
• Scars: Well-hidden and fade with time.
